This particular landuse often generates disquiet and a variety of unfounded pejorative views within the community. Whilst it is possible that there could be an association between this landuse and violent behaviour or drug use, the same can be said for many other perfectly legitimate service type industries.
Most tattoo artists are genuine business people who merely want to practise their art lawfully and contribute positively to the community in which they find themselves. Tattoo artists should be respected for the artwork which they create. Our view is that, subject to the variety of assessment criteria to be found in the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, tattoo studios are very likely to be appropriate in any business zone in any part of the Sydney region.
